Caracal Kitten, also known as Dark Caracal and G0070, is a state-sponsored cyber espionage group assessed to operate out of a building belonging to the Lebanese General Directorate of General Security (GDGS) in Beirut, Lebanon. First observed in 2007, with significant global operations documented from 2012, the group's primary motivation is information theft and espionage, targeting individuals and entities typically of interest to a nation-state. Initially, the group relied on custom mobile and desktop surveillanceware but has recently transitioned to newer malware families. Caracal Kitten is notable as one of the first publicly documented mobile APT actors to execute espionage on a global scale.
